David Stubbings

Chief Executive Officer

David Stubbings worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer (Clinical Chemistry) at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel and JSPS, Harley Street in London, England until 1986. He emigrated to South Africa and was employed as a Research assistant for the Natal Institute of Immunology until 1994 where he also completed his Masters degrees (1992). He joined NBI as Head of Products and Services then transferred to the Quality Division as Head of Quality Control and later became the Head of Quality Management and a member of the Senior Management Team. In November 2010 he was appointed Executive Director of NBI and in 2011, CEO of NBI.

Bronwyn Blades

Company Secretary

Bronwyn Blades is a qualified chartered accountant and has an MBA in Strategic Management. Bronwyn was employed by NBI as Financial Manager in August 2000, forming part of the senior management of the company. Bronwyn moved to SANBS as Financial Director in 2002. In 2006, when SANBS relocated its support services to Johannesburg, Bronwyn rejoined NBI, covering for the Financial Manager who was on maternity leave. Bronwyn has been the Company Secretary since 2007 and her responsibilities include strategy, risk management, corporate governance and project work. 

Maishibe Ntlhane

Financial Director

Maishibe Ntlhane is a chartered accountant as well as a certified management accountant, with extensive experience in Financial Management and Reporting.

Maishibe started her career at a Multinational FMCG where she completed her CA training and progressed to the position of Financial Planner. During this period, she gained her experience in financial reporting, taxation and cost accounting. She subsequently worked in the Automotive Industry as a Financial Controller and Project Manager. Before joining NBI, she worked for several years at a Multinational Pharmaceutical company in various management and senior finance roles. In her last position as Finance Head for English West Africa, she was responsible for the development of strategic long-term financial and business plans, driving the business planning and forecasting process as well as evaluate financial performance against budget and identifying possible areas of improvement. Her responsibilities also included risk management, review and implementation of financial controls and addressing all tax queries related to operations in English West Africa.

As Financial Director she contributes to the overall strategic direction and management of NBI thus ensuring the financial wellbeing of the company. She is responsible for the direction and management of the commercial activities of the company and provides guidance to the Senior Management Team on all financial aspects of the company’s operations.

Rangini (Trisha) Chetty

Responsible Pharmacist

Trisha joined NBI in 2007 as Head: Information and was promoted into her current role as Responsible Pharmacist in 2013. She is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974, as amended, the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 101 of 1965, as amended, as well as with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) principles, licensing conditions and applicable legislation.

Further, as the Responsible Pharmacist, Trisha is accountable to the regulatory authorities, viz. the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), for ensuring that only products that satisfy the safety, quality and efficacy parameters are released for sale; and for providing a professional forum to maintain and enforce professional integrity and competence amongst pharmacists and pharmacist’s assistants at NBI.

Trisha has more than 20 years’ work experience, including tenures in both the public and private health sector, at a managerial level. Trisha holds a BPharm degree, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology.

Janitha Gaines

Head of Division: People Management

Janitha Gaines holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has extensive experience as an HR Professional having worked across various industries. 

She started her career as a generalist in the FMCG industry and delivered across the full HR value chain which laid the foundation for operational excellence and instilled an appreciation for best practice and cutting edge HR initiatives. Janitha’s subsequent roles in the entertainment and leisure industry saw her implementing HR process improvement initiatives in addition to generalist portfolio.

Prior to joining NBI, Janitha worked at a professional services firm for 11 years and was responsible for performance management, talent management, strategy execution, talent attraction and employee engagement as well as HR processes. She was also instrumental in organisational change projects during this time.

As Head of People Management she is responsible for the execution of NBI’s human resources strategy.

Sridhar Lakshminarayana

Head of Division: Operations

Sridhar Lakshminarayana holds a Masters in Pharmacology and has extensive experience in the manufacturing of sterile formulations.

Sridhar has been with NBI since January 2015. Prior to joining NBI, he was employed with Aspen Pharmacare in their SVP facility as the Head of Manufacturing.

Sridhar is responsible for manufacturing operations, achieving the production targets on time and within budget and in doing so ensuring that products are manufactured correctly, cost effectively in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice, product specifications and quality requirements.

Dr Andrè Germishuizen, Pr. Eng

Head of Division: Quality Management and Scientific Affairs

Dr Andrè Germishuizen holds B.Eng and M.Eng degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Pretoria and a PhD in biochemical engineering from Cambridge University in the UK.

Andrè joined NBI in May 2013 as the Head of Quality Management and Scientific Affairs, where he is overall responsible for management of the Quality Division, and the maintenance and continuous improvement of the quality management system at NBI. As a member of the senior management team, he is responsible for modernising NBI’s product portfolio, manufacturing processes and application of science and engineering practices to enhance the way we work at NBI.

Before joining NBI, Andrè was the Chief Operating Officer of Animal Health Products at Deltamune in Pretoria, responsible for business aspects of Deltamune’s vaccine production and R&D facilities (personnel management, budget and legal issues), as well as operational management of the vaccine production facility. Prior to that, Andrè was the R&D manager at Medicine in Need South Africa (MEND), a subsidiary of a US non-profit company in Pretoria.

Shanay Singh

Head of Division: Business Development 

Shanay joined NBI in July 2020 as Head of Business Development. He is responsible for the Sales and Marketing as well as Export functions of the business. In addition, Shanay is responsible for expanding the NBI portfolio and pipeline.

Shanay previously worked for Aspen, leading up global portfolio and Business Development activities.

Shanay is a registered Pharmacist with a Masters in Clinical Pharmacy (UKZN) and a Masters in Business Administration (USB, Cum Laude).
